Galactic mass-to-light ratios with superfluid dark matter

چکیده
Context. We make rotation curve fits to test the superfluid dark matter model. Aims. In addition verifying that resulting match data reasonably well, we aim evaluate how satisfactory they are with respect two criteria, namely, reasonable stellar mass-to-light ratios and whether end up in regime of where model resembles modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND). Methods. fitted curves 169 galaxies SPARC sample. Results. found obtained generally acceptable terms populations. However, best-fit have an unnatural dependence on size galaxy giant systematically lower than dwarf galaxies. A second finding is often best superfluid’s force cannot resemble MOND without adjusting a boundary condition separately for each galaxy. case, can no longer expect reproduce phenomenologically observed scaling relations appealing. If, other hand, consider only solutions whose approximates then total mass tension gravitational lensing data. Conclusions. conclude even still unsatisfactory reasons. First, show trend size. Second, do not automatically MOND, if so, strong

Is Galactic Dark Matter White ?
We calculate the expected white dwarf luminosity functions and discovery functions in photometric passbands, if these stellar remnants provide a substantial fraction of the sought Galactic dark matter, as suggested on various observational grounds. We demonstrate the extremely rapid variation of the photometic signature of halo white dwarfs with time and thus the powerful diagnostic of white dw...
متن کاملConstraints on the global mass to light ratios and extent of dark matter halos in globular clusters and dwarf spheroidals
The detection of stars in the process of being tidally removed from globular clusters and dwarf spheroidals in the Galaxy’s halo provides a strong constraint on their mass to light ratios and on the extent of their possible dark matter halos. If a significant dark matter component existed either within or beyond the observed stellar distribution, then stars would not be removed. We use numerica...
متن کاملLight Higgsino Dark Matter
We re–investigate the question whether a light higgsino–like neutralino is a viable Dark Matter candidate. To this end we compute the dominant one–loop corrections to the masses of the higgsino–like states in the minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), due to loops involving heavy quarks and their superpartners. We also calculate analogous corrections to the couplings of higgsino–like neu...
متن کاملLIGHT DARK MATTER a
We show how light spin-1 2 or spin-0 particles may be acceptable Dark Matter candidates, provided they annihilate sufficiently strongly through new interactions, such as those induced by a new light neutral spin-1 boson U. The corresponding interaction is stronger than weak interactions at lower energies, but weaker at higher energies. Annihilation cross sections of (axially coupled) spin-1 2 D...
متن کاملLight on Dark Matter
Galaxies are lighthouses that sit atop peaks in the density field. There is good observational evidence that these lighthouses do not provide a uniform description of the distribution of dark matter.
